Interactive Maps help

Below is an image of the Interactive Maps webpage. Click on the name of a feature to find out more.

Top toolbar: Click on this to take you to the Wokingham Borough Council website home page.
Main map: To move around the map, click on the 'pan' button Pan button under the map, then click and drag the map to the desired location. The map will then reload.

To extract information from the map, click on the 'info' button Info button, and then click on the feature on the map that you wish to know more about. You then need to scroll down to view details of that feature, and any others underneath it.

To zoom in, click on the plus button Zoom in. To zoom out, click on the minus button Zoom out. If you would like to view the map at a particular zoom level, you may click on one of the 'zoom bars' between the plus and minus buttons.

If you wish to zoom out to view the whole of Wokingham Borough, click on the 'zoom to extents' button Zoom to extents.

There are four 'views' available in Interactive Maps. General view displays information such as schools, places of worship, council offices, libraries, waste collections etc. The sports and leisure view displays information such as leisure centres, swimming pools, tennis courts, football pitches, riding schools etc. The planning constraints view displays planning applications, conservation areas and listed buildings. The local plan view displays all layers on Wokingham Borough Council's local plan 2004. To change the view that you are looking at, click on the appropriate link below the main map.

Overview map: This shows you the location of the main map in context (zoomed out).
Map layers: This is a list of all the layers available to see on the main map. The icon next to each layer name is how the layer will look on the main map (e.g. secondary schools are red triangles). All the layers are selected 'on' by default. If you wish to remove a layer from the main map, untick the box next to that layer's name, and then click on the Update button Update button at the top of the window. The map will then reload with your specified set of layers.
Address search: Enter a name, number, road or postcode of an address that you wish to locate. Click on the Search button Search, and then scroll down the page to see the results. Click on the correct property from the list, and the map will then zoom to that property. If you then wish to make another address search, you can click on the Clear button Clear to clear your previous search information. Please note, you need to type in your postcode with a space in the middle e.g. RG40 1BN rather than RG401BN.
Find my nearest: Enter a postcode or select a town, then choose a layer or information that you wish to search, and the radius that you wish to search in. Click the Find button Find, and then scroll down the page to view the results. You can click on any of the results and the map will zoom to that feature.
Results table: Results from the information search, address search and find my nearest will be displayed in this window. You can click on any of the results and the map will zoom to that feature (e.g. an address, a school, a nature reserve).
Points of interest: A list of points of interest in the Borough, e.g. council offices, museums. Use the drop down menu to see the available points of interest. Click on the feature that you wish to zoom to, and click on the Find button Find. The main map will then center on the point of interest that you have selected.
Privacy statement: This link takes you to the privacy statement of Wokingham Borough Council's website. It contains information regarding personal details obtained through access to our website.
